Beta Sigma Psi tries
to incorporate the 3 S's in everything that
it does: Spiritual growth,
Scholastic achievement, and Social
responsibility.
Spiritual
Growth
Our fraternity was
founded as a Lutheran Society in 1919 with
spiritual life at its center, and it was
intended to remain that way. Spiritual
is the most important "S" of the three. Beta
Sigma Psi performs many activities to
develop the spiritual growth of its members.
The chapter hosts an annual "Beta Sig"
Sunday each fall next door at Campus
Lutheran Church. The House holds
weekly Bible studies and occasional Bible
studies open to the campus, as well as
in-house Reformation Day and Ash Wednesday
church services.
Scholastic Achievement
Beta Sigma Psi
strives for scholastic excellence. The
House GPA is consistently around a 3.0 every
semester, and we are consistently trying to
improve. We were #1 in grades among
all fraternities at MU during the Winter
Semester 2005, and consistently rank in the
top 25% of fraternities at MU. We maintain a
strict scholarship policy that includes
quiet hours and mandatory study hours for
new members. We work hard to help
those who may be struggling with classes.
Social Responsibility
But we are in
college to also have fun, right? Beta
Sigma Psi hosts many social activities,
including an annual Pig Roast, Float Trip,
and Hayride. Every year we have a
Christmas Semi-Formal and in the spring we
hold our annual Gold Rose Formal outside of
Columbia (this year it is in Chicago, IL). Our chapter also
participates in activities that only Greeks
can do, such as Homecoming and Greek Week.
The House participates in intramural sports
as well. There is something for
everyone here at Beta Sig. |
